As we all know, eating antioxidant rich foods helps to protect us from a broad range of diseases. This is also true for the skin. When applied topically, antioxidants have shown in university studies to protect and heal the skin from UV sun damage, and toxins in the environment.
Too much UV exposure generates harmful free radicals in the skin and cumulative exposure to these free radicals contributes to the break down of DNA, proteins, including collagen and elastin, and fats in skin cells. The consequence is that skin cells are damaged and cannot create healthy new cells, leading to wrinkles, sun spots, thin and sagging skin.
Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. The skin also bruises and tears more easily – taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you’re young, it can definitely show later in life.
One study from the University of California, San Francisco concluded that, “regular application of skin care products containing antioxidants may be of the utmost benefit in efficiently preparing our skin against oxidative stressors occurring during daily life.” Furthermore, sunscreening agents may also benefit from combinations with antioxidants resulting in increased safety and efficacy of such photo protective products [Sunscreens].”
Nothing can completely undo sun damage, but the skin can to a degree repair itself, especially with on-going antioxidant protection. So, it’s never too late to begin protecting and healing your skin, especially if you live on Maui.
This is why I created my Skin Serum. After a year long quest I found the best healing and protective botanicals that nature has designed. I studied each ingredient and how they work together and made sure every one was included in therapeutic amounts! No Skimping!
Along with high amounts of antioxidants, it was important to include a wide range of skin nutrients to create a superfood skin food formula. These nutrients help the skin to support and build healthy cell membranes and collagen, protect our cells from free radicals, reduce the appearance of fine lines, fade age spots and scars, and improve skin tone and resilience.
The natural skin serum contains: Camellia Oleifera* (Tea Seed Oil), Argan Oil* (Argania spinosa), Apricot Kernel Oil* (Prunus armeniaca), Rosehip Seed Oil* (Rosa rubiginosa), Borage Seed Oil* (Borago officinalis), Pumpkin Seed Oil* (Curcubita pepo), Raspberry Seed Oil (Rubus idaeus), Expressed Carrot Seed Oil (Daucus carota), Cranberry Seed Oil (Vaccinium macrocarapon), Pomegranate Seed Oil* (Punica granatum), Rose Otto*(Rosa damascena), Sea Buckthorn* (Hippophae rhamnoides), Therapeutic Essential Oil blend*~(1%: Hawaiian Sandalwood, Frankincense, Rose Geranium*, Lavender, Rosemary Co2*, Proprietary Blend). 92% *Certified Organic.
