For over four decades, the Seabury Hall craft fair has been an Upcountry tradition.“My favorite part of the Seabury Hall Craft Fair is seeing thousands of people enjoying our campus,” says event chair Dyvette Fong. “For months we plan every detail of the event, and on the big day the community always shows up for the kids–and it’s all about the kids!”
Fong has been the volunteer chairperson of the event for three years, which is hosted annually by the Seabury Hall Parents Organization. With a cadre of parents, volunteers, students, faculty, staff, supporters, and alumni the campus is transformed from a quiet rural 55-acre campus to a hub of food, fun, and friends.
The event supports Seabury Hall’s financial aid programs which has a twofold purpose: to provide deserving students an opportunity for a high-quality college preparatory education, which might otherwise be unobtainable for them, and to provide the school with a well-qualified student body reflecting a broad social and economic mix. For these goals to be achieved, it is essential that the ability to pay full tuition should not be a deciding factor in determining whether or not a promising young person may attend Seabury Hall.
“It is important that the Seabury Hall student body reflects the diversity of Maui. One of the ways we do that is by providing a robust financial aid program to families. Last year, we provided over a quarter of our student body financial aid,” shares Maureen Madden, the Head of School.
The 2020 Seabury Hall Craft Fair is on Saturday, May 9th from 9am-4pm at the school campus on Olinda Road in Makawao. Taking place on the day before Mother’s Day, the Maui community is invited to shop, peruse, eat, and enjoy live music. More than 100 of Maui’s best artisan vendors of jewelry, ceramics, weaving, clothing, painting, woodworking, traditional Hawaiian art, and more will be on display. A perfect place to purchase Mother Day gifts!
There is also live entertainment, silent auction, fresh-cut flowers, home-baked goods, food vendors, pony rides, keiki games, one of Maui’s biggest waterslides, and a huge rummage sale. Family fun is had by all!
