1.Wash the chard leaves well in several changes of water to remove all dirt. If you have time flash steam the greens (to soften the fibers) by placing it in a steamer over rapidly boiling water (1 minute for chard, 2 minutes for kale.) Make sure the water is boiling before you add the greens. Steam leaves just until it becomes bright green in color as a dark green color or strong smell of chard or kale means that is overcooking and losing vitamins.
2. Using a blender, food processor or mini blender, blend the greens with 1/4 cup of the water used for steaming (advisable to cool the water first). Add the rest of the ingredients and blend for about a minute until smooth.
3. Drink right away or place next to your nursing chair to sip while nourishing your babe or store in the fridge for about 4 hours. Makes about 2 and 1/2 cups.

Ingredients
- 3 large organic chard or kale leaves Remove stems. (You can also use 2 cups baby chard or kale. Use chard if your doctor or midwife has advised you to avoid gas-producing foods).
- 1 local apple banana
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt Coconut, low fat or whole, your choice but make sure to choose one that has live and active cultures.
- 1 1/2 cup fresh organic blueberries You can use frozen (Costco is an affordable option for organic frozen)
- 1/2 cup filtered water
- 1/4-1/2 cup ice cube Made with purified or filtered water.
