The Sun in Capricorn was ringing in the turn of the season with the Winter Solstice on Dec 21 in conjunction with Saturn entering its own sign. The equinoxes and solstices are powerful shifts of the flow of life force. These shifts change how we relate to our environment and how our personal energy flows. With the Winter Solstice we shifted out of the darkest, coldest time of the year into the light and hope for better times. Saturn will now be in Capricorn for about two years and the Lord of Obstacles and Challenges will bring up unresolved issues around authorities, dysfunction in government and politics, (yeah, as if we need more clarity about that!) With Saturn, we are either suffering in denial and ignorance or taking a deep look, figuring things out and THEN TAKING ACTION.
The Full Moon in Cancer Happens January 1 at 6:24 pm PST
A Full Moon always brings light and awareness into the specifics of its sign. For a brief period of time we feel our inner world of emotions more directly and intensely than usual. This month we have two!
On January 1st we will experience a Cancer Full Moon, creating one of the most emotional, volatile time periods. You might feel more reactive and vulnerable than usual. Especially if you have other planets in your chart in the sign of Cancer. Whenever you can take a moment to connect with that inner field of the Witness and become more aware of your feelings you will experience more choices in how to react. Remember your emotions are your inner guidance system to let you know if you are on the right track or heading in the wrong direction. If we ignore or stuff down our feelings we might end up with numbness or depression, cut off from a rich inner and outer experience.
Cancer also represents the home and family we have created. In our home we can feel safe, comfortable and nourished. With the Full Moon in Cancer we all can enjoy a more inward attention and make our inner life truly important. From that inner world we will then receive inspiration and creativity.
MY SUGGESTION: Take a Mom’s day off and do something truly nourishing for yourself… make sure you give some hugs to your friends and family, go out treat yourself to a massage or hang out with some friends… replenishing your oxytocin, your happy hormone.
The New Moon in Capricorn January 16 at 6:17 pm PST
A New Moon always starts us on a new journey for the coming months and sets the emotional tone, depending on the sign it is in. With six planets in Capricorn denial is no longer an option. As one of the earth signs, on the high end side of things… Capricorn is teaching us about responsibilities, loyalty, and alignment with reality.
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the archetype of the Wise Elder, The Prime Minister, the Strategist and the Father. These are all archetypes of power and maturity, guiding us into a position of taking good care of others. However, on the low end of this archetype, whenever positions of power are achieved, they come with a strong potential of abuse of office because of self-serving interests, as we see in politics.
MY SUGGESTION: Take a look at your life and acknowledge where you need to clean up your act. Where do you procrastinate? What are your plans for the coming year? Take one first action step towards your goal now!
Leo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at January 31 at 5:26 am PST
Aquarian energies are breaking up rigid structures and are setting the tone for February. This Full Moon conjuncts the North Node and adds the potential of karmic healing and integration to the expression of creativity and playfulness. This is a good time to discover your own inner child and ability to trust your own flow.
I am a big believer in the personal power point of true transformation. The change and contribution we can make to the bigger picture and morphogenetic field of consciousness is by taking responsibility for things we can change in our circle of life.
So, instead of getting morose about the state of things in the world and our country I choose to focus where I can be the change I want to see. Happy New Year!
