We will have two Full Moons in July. The month starts with a Capricorn Full Moon and ends with an Aquarian Full Moon. When this happens we call it a Blue Moon. It is kind of rare and happens only every 2 to 3 years. Hence we talk about “once in a Blue Moon”. Astrologically it is not especially significant because we look into the astrological monthly changes by the Sun changing the sign and not the calendar month. As astrologers we are more interested in which sign the Full or New Moon is in.
With the Sun, the New Moon, Mars and Mercury in Cancer we will be turning our attention more into the inner world of needs and feelings. All the planets in Cancer will help us to be self- conscious enough to nurture and care for our own self as well as others.
Full Moon in Capricorn July 1 on Maui
A Full Moon always brings light and awareness into the specifics of its sign. For a brief period of time we feel our inner world of emotions more directly and intensely than usual.
As one of the earth signs, Capricorn is teaching us about responsibilities, loyalty, and alignment with reality. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the archetype of the Wise Elder, the Strategist and the Father. These are all archetypes of power and maturity, guiding us into a position of taking good care of others.
Capricorn is the sign of discipline, focus, the great work, the big mountain to climb, responsibility, and our adjustment to the material reality we live in. With the Moon in Capricorn we tend to be more sober in our outlook of life. There is some growing up to do; looking at your life as it is, without the rose colored glasses. A reality check of what is working for you and what is not, is the first step into setting new goals and intentions. Whenever you look at what you don’t want, you know what you do want. And only then do you have a chance to implement the necessary steps and make it happen. Every journey starts from the place you are…
New Moon in Cancer July 15 on Maui
A New Moon always starts us on a new journey for the coming months and sets the emotional tone, depending on the sign it is in.
We are starting into a new cycle of Mother Moon with an invitation to become more aware of our feelings. Our emotions are our inner guidance system to let us know if we are on the right track or heading in the wrong direction. If we ignore or stuff down our feelings we might end up with numbness or depression, cut off from a rich inner and outer experience.
Cancer is also representing the home and family we have created. In our home we can feel safe, comfortable and nourished. With the New Moon in Cancer we all can enjoy a more inward motion and make our inner life truly important.
Take a Mom’s day off and do something truly nourishing for yourself like having a massage or hang out with some girlfriends… replenishing your oxytocin, your happy hormone.
Full Moon in Aquarius July 31
This second Full Moon in Aquarius then changes the tone into one of individuality and fearlessly sharing your values with the world. Aquarius is the revolutionary, guided by a vision of freedom, equality and solidarity. These are the activists, the rebellious spirits and forerunners pointing the way for evolutionary changes.
This Full Moon illuminates how far you have come in your journey and adjusts your aim and direction. If you feel like a stranger in a strange land sometimes, ask yourself: Who are your peers? Where are your friends and like-minded souls, people who share your visions and ideals? You will always be defined, uplifted or pulled down to the level of your peer group. If you want to learn, grow and expand, you need to surround yourself with people who have similar values…
Great friends are people who keep you challenged and even help you rise above your current standards. Therefore choose wisely!
