Pau Hana Kava Cafe

If you don’t already know about it, Pau Hana Kava Café is a cool little health conscious restaurant and bar tucked away behind Vineyard Street. This avant-garde eatery serves local organic vegetarian cuisine and non-alcoholic cocktails designed to “calm your body and enhance your mind.” This gem is hidden down the alleyway at 2070 W. Vineyard Street, diagonally across from the banyon tree.

It is a place where Maui mamas, with or without the kids, can interact and socialize in a secluded outdoor zen courtyard. Sara Tovey and Shannon Strazdas, the owners of Pau Hana, renovated this vacant, forgotten, overgrown lot into a vibrant sanctuary we all can enjoy. Pau Hana Kava Café proudly supports local, organic, non-GMO vendors using the freshest seasonal and highest quality ingredients. The menu consists of raw tapas, vegan desserts, kombucha, cold-pressed juices, tea, coffee, and of course Kava. Each food and drink item provide the nourishment to rejuvenate your body, fight disease, eliminate toxins, and awaken your being.

Non-alcoholic cocktails offer a means to promote constructive interaction between mindful individuals, while cleansing and purifying the body and soul. Take a seat at the bar for a healthy shot of noni, Vitamineral Greens™, spirulina, hemp powder, and apple cider vinegar. Stay a while and indulge in the medicinal properties of kava and kombucha.

Sara and Shannon have been coordinating events conducive to the relaxed ambiance and zen atmosphere of this stunning space. Bringing a farmer’s market to Wailuku has been an important initiative. Every Friday from 3:30pm-7:30pm Pau Hana Kava Café hosts local vendors tendering organic produce, healthy food, drinks, and deserts, essential oils, handcrafted goods, reiki, and massage.

While on Mondays, begin your week with clear and loving intentions at Pau Hana Flow at 5:30pm. Yoga coincides with Pau Hana’s core values as it enhances a sense of wellbeing, expands consciousness, and nourishes the soul. $15 includes a stimulating one-hour class with Megan Nolan from Body Alive Yoga, and a kava or kombucha. Strengthen and rejuvenate with yoga, kava, organic cuisine, and good conversation with friends before heading on home.

The events, festivities, meetings, collaborations, and gatherings intended for this space are limitless. Plans are in the works for live music concerts, pop up boutiques, fashion shows, movie nights, and informative lectures and holiday festivities. To find out more information on upcoming events find them on Facebook. You can rent this luscious 6,000 square foot space for your own event, wedding, party, or meeting.

Pau Hana Kava Café promotes health awareness and education in order to properly fuel one’s mind, body, and soul. Adequate nourishment is imperative for the evolution of our consciousness and this planet, and imperative for moms!
