Without much fanfare Haiku Grocery closed two weeks ago only to open under new ownership two weeks later! Many of us heard rumors that Foodland had bought it, which is partly true. On July 29th Sullivan Family of Companies, which owns Foodland, Whalers General Store and Napili Market opened the new Haiku Market.
It is a full service grocery store. It feels different inside than when it was the Haiku Grocery with large framed graphics on the walls, and shinier equipment, but layout is similar and prices are not that different. Thankfully you will see a lot of the familiar faces serving you and can find some organic and locally grown products in the produce section.
They are still implementing features around the store and will have fresh poke, a deli counter with freshly sliced meat, rotisserie chicken, cold salads, and Western Union & money orders in the months to come.
EBT should be up and running by this weekend and they should be WIC certified by Monday.
Aloha to the neighborhood!
