Beach Category: Beaches
• Shower and porta potty
• BBQ and picnic tables
• Super shallow and calm so great for little ones
Kalepolepo Beach Park is in North Kihei and is the location of the ancient Hawaiian Ko’ie’ie fishpond. The fishpond’s stone wall creates the shallow calm water perfect for paddling in, however, the problem is it is in close proximity to run off from some experimental chemical spraying in they near by fields leased by Monsanto. It also has a bad rep for sewage water.
I would avoid frequently getting in the water at any North Kihei beach especially after storms due to increased run off.
The grassy area with a bbq is a good place to have a party though and it is often frequented with locals rather than tourists and is a cool historical site next to the headquarters for the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
