Do you want to see Maui County switch to chemical-free weed and pest control on all county property?
Imagine all ORGANIC MAUI PARKS! Imagine NO MORE ROUNDUP on county roadsides!
Let’s make Maui Parks Pesticide FREE!
Elle Cochran will be hosting a panel of experts on organic weed control in her Infrastructure and Environmental Management committee on March 22 at 1:30pm. This is a great chance to educate the committee members, county departments, and the public about organic alternatives to pesticides. The panel will take place in the council chambers, 8th floor of the County building in Wailuku.
“We are really fortunate to have a diverse panel of experts ready to educate the committee on alternatives to chemical weed and pest control on county-owned lands.
Participating in the panel will be:
Jay Feldman, Exective Director of Beyond Pesticides
Sylvia Wu, Attorney for Center for Food Safety
Duane Sparkman, Engineering/Landscaping Manager Westin Maui Resort & Spa
Joseph Jankauskas, CEO of Cutting Edge Formulations/Avenger Organic Weed Killer
… and more.” Elle Cochran
Please come, show your support for an organic approach to weed control on county property, and get educated on alternatives to chemicals. Please come to listen or testify, or more importantly please send testimony to email@example.com by March 18th.
CALL TO ACTION: We need to show A LOT of community support for this, but it is very important that we don’t have so much testimony that we run out of time for the panel. PLEASE send written testimony WITH A PHOTO of you or your keiki in a Maui County park. Tell your personal story about why you want Maui to go organic on county property, and include a photo. Get your testimony in early, so the committee has time to read it.
NOTE: The State Department of Transport has already stopped using Roundup and started using an organic alternative on all state owned roads, so we know that Maui County can do this too!
There is also a petition you can sign to stop the purchase and use of Roundup and other glyphosate based herbicides and neonicotinoid in our Maui parks, roadways, and near to our schools.
Mahalo Maui mamas, WE CAN DO THIS!
