future thinking green

Celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd is a good time to reflect that OUR EARTH’S POPULATION HAS DOUBLED IN LESS THAN 60 YEARS! Did our planet also grow in size and natural resources to accommodate for this expansion? Unfortunately no…but all is not lost. We as humans do have the power to change our consumer habits and desires. In doing so we will help the future sustainability of our planet for our children and future generations.

My proudest contribution to serving our planets sustainability crisis is to create a product that not only helps to make our lives easier but also serves to help Mother Earth’s health conundrum. After being in research and development for 5 years I developed an earth friendly and highly effective all-purpose cleaning product (packaged in recycled glass bottles) called Habitat All Surface Spray & Shine.

It was important for me to make a product that worked great. A product that was 100% biodegradable with ingredients that were 100% chemical free, organic, non-GMO and vegan certified. Something that could be used for multiple uses; a cleaning product that would work as a disinfectant, degreaser, and glass cleaner as well as making hard surfaces shine. A household product that incorporated the power of natural ingredients using a complex blend of pure plant essential oils known for their anti-microbial, ant-infectious, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties. ONE product, ONE hundred percent natural, in ONE container, now that’s “future thinking clean.’ TM.

I developed my product in the hopes that people will rethink cleaning as an integral part of supporting sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. I believe that we can start fixing the problems of our Mother Earth by acting now and speaking the truth. I realized that I needed to drop my own ego, stop blaming ‘those people’, ‘that culture’, ‘this law,’ accept where the past went wrong and start today to change my habits. I decided to accept full responsibility for my role and to move on with enthusiastic rigor and heart. I saw the way I decided to live my life was full of opportunities to heal and change.

Every time I choose to purchase local, live as chemical free as I can or read publications like The Mauimama I am pro-active and supporting sustainability. Each time I have open, thoughtful and proactive dialogue with a side of opposition or with my son, I plant seeds of change. I realized the little changes I made in my daily life really do make a difference. With community commitment towards facilitating change and using our purchasing power mindfully towards a sustainable future our every day consumer decisions can make a huge difference. Thank you.
